Scape Series gallery
For paintings in this series, I collect quantity of small strips of old, very worn wood in varying length and organize them into canvas sized pieces.
The roughness of the wood absorbs the paint very deeply and has a large bleed, so I chose indistinct images.
I find that the linearity of the strips lends itself to tree and cityscapes, and the haziness I can acquire with many layers of very thin paint draws me towards the idea of shadowy watery reflections at dawn or dusk.
