Woodscape Series
Woodscapes
For paintings in this series, I collect small strips of old, very worn wood in varying length and organize them into canvas sized pieces. The roughness of the wood absorbs the paint very deeply and has a large bleed, so I chose indistinct images.
I find that the linearity of the strips lends itself to tree and cityscapes, and the haziness I can acquire with many layers of very thin paint draws me towards the idea of shadowy watery reflections at dawn or dusk.
